Schade.

    The Reluctant Fundamentalist -Film review

In general the movie is about Changez a Pakistani from Lahore which moves to America to become successful in business and to live the "American Dream" .There he is falling in love with Erica,a young hing seems to be allright but after 9´11 Changez is confronted with racism and hate against his also the relationship to Erica is falling apart, because she still loves her dead boyfriend .After some time Changez leaves his job because he had to fire people to be succesful and now he realise that it is an unmoral way to earn coming back to Lahore he becomes a professor and he is loved by his one day an American which works at the university is kidnapped and Changez seems to hide whole movie contains of the conversation of Bobby-which wants to find the professor Anse Rainier-and Changez who talks about the events of his he guilty or has Bobby got the wrong man?
The movie is a thriller which was shot by Mira Nair and which was published in 2012. Mira Nair was born on October 15th in 1957 and she is is a scriptwriter, director and producer and in 2002 she published a movie called 11´09"01-September 11 in which she deals with the assassination of the World Trade Centers in N ew York.11 filmmaker were asked to show their commiseration for these tragic "The Reluctant Fundamentalist" she also uses the topic of the assassination.
"The Reluctant Fundamentalist" is based on a novel of the same title from 2007 written by Mohsin Hamid which was born in Lahore in Pakistan in 1971 the same country in which the character Changez lives in the actor of Changez is Riz Ahmed, born on december 31th in 1982 .He first took part in a movie in 2005 which is called "The Road to Guantanamo",the actress of Erica is Kate Hudson who is really was born on April 19th in 1979 in Los first series was in 1995 - "Party of Five". Bobby´s actor is Liev Schreiber born on October 4th in 1967 and he first took part in "Livesavers" in 1994. In my opinion all these actors act really convincingly ; especially can see the conflict in his character ; on the one hand his love for America on the other hand the pleausure he felt while the assassination of the World Trade the sadness after the fight with Erica showed that he felt betrayed by her and that he has never thought she could do something like is also a very covincing character, because he is worried about his friend Anse Rainier which was kidnapped.
The soundtrack of the movie is an important element of it,because all the songs ,or most of it are in content of these songs is very essential for the plot this is why they are my opinion the soundtrack is picked very well.
I would recommend the movie because it shows the conflict between the different cultures/countries and the distrust against Pakistani but the most important fact is: "Looks can be deceiving.."

I didn’t read the book “The Reluctant Fundamentalist” from Mohsin Hamid before I watched the film, but in my opinion it’s a really good film. At first I think that the actors are very well chosen because they play very well and they fit in their characters. Furthermore, the story is very interesting. You always wonder what’s happening next and especially the link to the terrorist attacks on 9/11 is interesting. The effects to foreign people are shown clearly and dramatically. The only negative aspect for me is that you don’t always understand much they say, if you are a German pupil. But nevertheless you can understand the story.
All in all, I think it’s a good film. Not only to watch at school and prepare the book but also to watch for yourself at home if you are interested in this genre.
