Young Judith Dunbar IS packed off to boarding school by her colonial parents. When her aunt and guardian dies, Judith is adopted by the family of her best friend, Loveday Carey Lewis. The shy teenager falls in love with the family, their home, Nancherrow, and Loveday's older brother, Edward.
