Saw the movie twice at the Viennale Film Festival within only a few days. It occurred to me, leaving the midnight special screening, spontaneously scheduled cause the reaction of the audience days before being more than enthusiastic, that the story is really timeless, reaching biblical proportions, setting, music, all the main actors outstanding in their performance, even Charles Bronson, and, before I kinda forget to tell, you know, nor a popsong or an symphony, no movie, no book, no painting or comic, no tale at all, is being flawless, THE FILM IS A TICK TO LONG, nonetheless an absolute masterpiece. From the moment on the bad one can't stand the thought of his wife giving birth to his child til reaching the movies end I can't find even one second I would eliminate. Speaking of final solutions, I'm quite sure the famous scene in True Romance, Dennis Hopper, as the main characters dad, provoking Christopher Walken, headhoncho among thugs, to kill him instead of getting tortured, was written by Quentin Tarantino after being really impressed by, such a coincidence, Dennis Hopper, acting as the bar owner openly showcasing his suicidal tendencies while serving your whiskey. Until I saw this movie I kinda just knew Sean Penn for being the idiot cop in Colors, another highlight of american movies in the late 80ies, so his thoughtfulness in storytelling was a big surprise to me.
Sunday Morning Coming Down.
A great song and moment in time.
It's one of these days.
You are not in a hurry at all.
You press the right button when it's getting dark again,
and soon the Indian Runner
is coming by
crawling in your brain
you won't regret it
