Europe is in the grip of the Second World War and feelings in the embattled British Isles run high -- especially for those who live along the coast. The residents of Walmington-On-Sea must rely on the local Home Guard, conmmanded by Captain Mainwaring and his assistant Sergeant Wilson, in the invent of an invasion. Not such a comforting thought when one considers the men who make up the platoon: whingeing Scot, Private Frazer; ancient Lance Corporal Jones and mummy's boy Private Pike!
