Dwayne Johnson vs. Riesen-Monster: Videospiel-Adaption "Rampage" mit neuen Drehbuchautoren

Dwayne Johnson stellte sich im Erdbeben-Thriller „San Andreas“ einer gigantischen Zerstörung entgegen und wird es auch in „Rampage“ tun, wobei hier Riesen-Monster verantwortlich sind. Das Skript wird aber vor Drehstart noch mal überarbeitet…

New Lines „Rampage“ hat inhaltlich wenig mit Uwe Bolls Amok-Actioner zu tun, wobei es natürlich auch um Zerstörung geht. Wie im 80er-Arcade-Spiel sorgen in der Kino-Adaption mutierte Riesen-Monster für Ärger, konkret Silverback, Alligator und Wolf. Dwayne Johnson spielt den Helden, der ihm vertraute Brad Peyton („San Andreas“, „Die Reise zur geheimnisvollen Insel“) inszeniert die gigantische Keilerei – und das Duo Carlton Cuse und Ryan Condal schreibt sie noch mal um, wie Johnson per Instagram verkündet:

EXCLUSIVE: Cool news we just hired Carlton Cuse & Ryan Condal (creators of COLONY) to write our big screen adaptation of RAMPAGE for New Line. Carlton also wrote SAN ANDREAS for us, so he excels at writing big scale with family and heart as the anchor. We have a shot to raise the bar and make something cool with this one as the basic storyline is three mutated gigantic monsters (Silverback, Alligator and Wolf) destroy major cities and landmarks across the US. This summer I'll spend time at the San Diego Wildlife Preserve as well as with Anti-Poaching Units from Africa for my research. If you were a fan of the video game like I was, then you KNOW how bad ass and fun this movie can be. I'll try not to screw it up 😂. Ryan Engle („Non-Stop“) legte bereits ein „Rampage“-Skript vor, das aber offenbar nicht auf genug Gegenliebe stieß. Seine Nachfolger Carlton Cuse und Ryan Condal kreierten und schrieben zusammen die Sci-Fi-Serie „Colony“. Getrennt voneinander arbeiteten sie z. B. an Drehbüchern zu „San Andreas“ und „Lost“ (Cuse) sowie an „Hercules“ (Condal).

Dwayne Johnson, der laut Instagram-Post versuchen will, „Rampage“ „nicht zu vergeigen“, kündigte den Drehbeginn für Spätsommer 2016 an, sodass ein Kinostart Ende 2017 realistisch erscheint. 2017 läuft auch Johnsons „Baywatch“-Film mit Zac Efron an (am 11. Mai bei uns).
